Encore Gets New Managing Director

Encore Consumer Capital has promoted Kate Wallman to managing director. Ms. Wallman joined Encore in 2016 as a vice president and was promoted to director in 2019.

Encore invests from $5 million to $40 million in consumer products companies that have revenues between $10 million and $100 million and where it can utilize its own consumer experience and the expertise of its operating partners at Encore Associates, a strategic advisory firm to the consumer products industry. San Francisco-based Encore was founded in 2005 by Managing Directors Robert Brown and Scott Sellers.

“From tenaciously finding new investments to working closely supporting our management teams, Kate’s made a big impact at Encore over the last five years,” said Mr. Brown. “We’re excited to welcome her into our partnership and promote her to Managing Director.”

At Encore, Ms. Wallman has been active with many of the firm’s investments including Love Wellness, a New York-based health and wellness brand; Murry’s, a Maryland-based frozen French toast maker; Lion Beverage, a Pennsylvania-based contract manufacturer of specialty beverages; California Splendor, a California-based processor of frozen strawberries and blackberries; ThunderWorks, a North Carolina-based maker of “shirts” for dogs and cats to help lessen the anxiety caused by fireworks and thunderstorms; and Van Law Foods, a California-based private label and contract manufacturer of salad dressings, sauces, and marinades.

“Kate’s a rising star and leader in consumer products industry investing, with a track record of success working with both branded and private label companies,” added Mr. Sellers. “We’re fortunate to have Kate as a leader, not only driving results but also enhancing the firm’s culture along the way.”

Prior to joining Encore in 2016, Ms. Wallman worked at Lineage Capital from 2008 to 2015 where she focused on investing in owner-managed businesses in the lower middle market.

Ms. Wallman has her bachelor’s degree in economics from Boston College and her MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
