EyeSouth Partners, a portfolio company of Shore Capital Partners, has acquired Retina Associates of Middle Georgia (RAMG).
RAMG provides ophthalmology services for the treatment of diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous. The practice is led by Drs. Norman Nelson, Steven Allee and Arpan Bachhawat and has two locations in Macon and Warner Robins, Georgia.
“Our primary goal at Retina Associates of Middle Georgia has always been to deliver exceptional medical and surgical retinal care combined with an outstanding patient experience,” said Dr. Nelson, who founded RAMG in 1992. “To further build upon this mission in the rapidly changing healthcare environment, we have decided to affiliate with EyeSouth as our partners to help us strengthen and expand our operational and administrative capabilities.”
The buy of Retina Associates is EyeSouth’s eighth purchase in the state of Georgia and its eighteenth acquisition overall.
Atlanta-headquartered EyeSouth now has a network of 18 practices with more than 125 doctors providing medical and surgical eye care services at approximately 73 locations including 11 surgery centers throughout Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama. Shore acquired EyeSouth Partners in March 2017 through Shore Capital Partners Fund I LP which closed in May 2014 with $112 million of capital.
Chicago-based Shore Capital invests in lower middle-market healthcare, and food and beverage companies. In April 2019, Shore closed its third healthcare-focused fund, Shore Capital Healthcare Partners Fund III LP, with $293 million of capital; and its inaugural food and beverage fund, Shore Capital Food & Beverage Partners Fund I LP (F&B Fund I), with $148 million of capital.
