Aperture, a portfolio company of Trinity Hunt Partners, has acquired American Bio Engineers. This is the third add-on acquisition completed by Aperture since its formation by Trinity Hunt in 2019.
American Bio Engineers is a provider of biomechanical and accident reconstruction forensic engineering services. The company was founded in 2009 by Brian Jones and is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada with additional offices in San Diego, California, and Scottsdale, Arizona.
Trinity Hunt formed Aperture (then Forensic Engineering Services) in August 2019 to acquire WEXCO International, a Marina del Rey, California-based provider of litigation-focused forensic services that has investigated over 10,000 cases, provided more than 2,000 depositions, and testified in over 600 trials. In August 2020, Aperture added-on with the buy of Scientific Analysis, a Dallas-based provider of forensic engineering services used in accident reconstruction. In December 2020, Aperture completed its second add-on in the sector with the buy of VA Forensics, a Carlsbad, California-based provider of biomechanical and accident reconstruction forensic engineering services.
Today, including the buy of American Bio, Aperture is a provider of litigation-focused forensic engineering services in the areas of premises liability, workplace safety, accident reconstruction, biomechanical engineering, and construction defect analysis.
Aperture, led by CEO Robert Joyce, is headquartered in Arlington, Texas, with additional locations in Texas (Dallas and Cedar Park), California (Carlsbad, Berkeley, Marina del Rey, and San Diego), Nevada (Las Vegas), and Arizona (Scottsdale).
“We are excited to welcome our new American Bio colleagues to the Aperture team,” said Mr. Joyce. “We are humbled to have someone of Brian’s professionalism, expertise, and experience join us as we continue to build the Aperture forensic engineering service offering across the country, and we look forward to working with the American Bio team during our journey ahead. Their addition to the team significantly expands the value we can bring to our clients.”
“Aperture’s partnership with American Bio adds yet another preeminent forensic engineering services group to the Aperture platform,” said Pete Stein, a managing partner at Trinity Hunt. “We look forward to further supporting the company as it continues to grow and provide exceptional service quality for our clients and extraordinary work experience for our employees.”
Dallas-based Trinity Hunt invests in founder and family-owned companies that have EBITDA between $4 million and $25 million. Sectors of interest include business services, industrial growth, non-cyclical consumer products, and healthcare services. In September 2018, Trinity Hunt held a final closing of its fifth fund, Trinity Hunt Partners V LP, with an oversubscribed $350 million of capital commitments. The new fund exceeded its initial target of $300 million and closed at its hard cap.
